Danny Lee Wagoner, a long-time resident of McAlester, Oklahoma died on October 27, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 84. He was the husband of Connie (Williams) Wagoner, married on December 27, 1977, sharing almost 44 years of marriage together. Born on December 27, 1936, in Carbon, Oklahoma to Grover H. (Jack) Wagoner and Mary Evelyn (Zachary) Wagoner, he proudly served his country, enlisting in the Army Nation Guard in 1954 and retired with 22 years of service as a Sergeant First Class. Danny’s civilian employment was in the aviation industry with over 40 years at companies including Lockheed, Rockwell, Boeing, and Spirit as a parts assembly operator until his retirement. Danny was a young athlete of acclaim as a Golden Glove Boxing Champion at one point fighting in the national tournament in Chicago, sponsored by our own local Pete’s Place Restaurant. Danny enjoyed garage sales, his cabin at Lake McAlester, restoring Classic Cars, and playing penny poker with his buddies on Saturday nights. He is survived by his wife, Connie (Williams) Wagoner of the home; his children: Darryl Wagoner and wife, Tami of McAlester, Nora Ann Bible of Tulsa, and Darren Jones of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren: Chance Wagoner and wife, Misty, Kaleb Wagoner and wife, Katlynn, Josh Bible, Dillon Bible, Carson Jones, Cade Jones, Garrett Miller and wife, Cody, Megan Kirkes and husband, Pepe and Summer Sharp and husband, Tyler; his great grandchildren: Kaisley Wagoner, Kennedy Wagoner and Marshall Miller; his brother: Bill Wagoner and wife, Beth of Sierra Vista, Arizona; his sister: Carolyn Roberts of McAlester; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Grover H. (Jack) Wagoner and Mary Evelyn (Zachary) Wagoner; his daughter: Shelly Ray; and brothers: Ernie Wagoner, Jackie Joe Wagoner, and Jim Wagoner. The family will host a viewing to greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home with Pastor Chip Lott officiating. The Oklahoma National Guard will provide military honors at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester, Oklahoma prior to the burial. Pallbearers will be Garrett Miller, Chance Wagoner, Kaleb Wagoner, Scott Wagoner, Jimmy Wagoner, and Doug Roberts.
