Bobby D. Vaughan, 85, of McAlester, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at his home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 at North Town Church of Christ with Randy Walters officiating. A private family burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Charlie Vaughan, Mike Maffeo, Steve Brewer, Stanley Elms, Robert Carey and Toby McClellan. Honorary pallbearers are George Sherrell, Jerry Matthews, Bill Coop, Mike O’Neal, Terry Williams, Don Bard, Jim Kelley, Dean Wood, Randy Hughes and Greg Shores. Bobby was born on November 27, 1938 in Ulan, Oklahoma to Charlie and Ruby (Austin) Vaughan. He married Geneva Hobbs on June 20, 1958 in Stigler, Oklahoma. He was a retired home builder and built 100+ homes in the Pittsburg County area. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a member of the North Town Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Vaughan of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Jay Bohanon of Evergreen, CO; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Dhonda Vaughan of McAlester, OK; grandchildren, Brynn Vaughan of Norman, OK, Maya Vaughan of McAlester, OK, Christian and wife, Bailey Bohanon of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jaden Bohanon of Evergreen, CO; sister-in-law, Tommye Hendershot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ruby Vaughan; brothers, Junior Vaughan and Harold Vaughan; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Vaughan.
