Josephine Carolyn (Jo) Patterson, 66, of McAlester, died Monday, May 4, 2015 at her home. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at Bishop Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Rodney Briggs officiating. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Jo was born to Hobert and Marie (Howard) Young on June 7, 1948 in Hanna, Wyoming. She was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated high school from Connecticut. She had lived in Alaska and the Florida Keys before moving her family to McAlester in 1979. She worked for the Holiday Inn for several years and McAlester Regional Health Care Center. She currently worked as the assistant manager of Country Mart, but if you asked her she considered it (her store.) She loved her job and the people she worked with. Jo enjoyed caring for others. She enjoyed spending time at the farm and always looked forward to her annual trip to Branson, Missouri with her fiancé, Leroy Ellis. She is survived by a daughter: Lori Stevens and husband, Roy of McAlester; grandchildren: Destiny Warnock, Joshua McClendon, Devin Kelly, Brendan Kelly; great-grandchildren: Lillyanna, Cheyanna, Eli, Elena; sisters: Barbara Sallis and husband, Bill of Arpelar, Jackie Turnbull and husband, Stephen of McAlester; brother: Roy Young and wife, Delois of Moore; fiance: Leroy Ellis of McAlester; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Hobert Young and Marie Jannelle; husband: Bob Patterson in 1993; son: William Sallis, II; daughter: Brenda Sallis Pool; and a grandson: Kristopher Sallis. Pallbearers will be John Boyd, Christopher Swartwout, Joe Santino, Charles Rowell, Brad Campbell, and Roger Sim. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Santino, Raymon Boyd, Freddie Howard, Donnie Howard, and Charles Kenneth Stubblefield.
