Bobby "Bob" Pate, Sr., 82, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11:47 p.m. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in McAlester. The burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Choctaw Nation Color Guard. Pallbearers will be Kenny Hotubbee, Keith Hotubbee, Carl Hotubee, Austin Kirkes, Ashton Pate, and Jason Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Munn, Eddie Cusher, Wayne Scott, Sr, Keith Tucker, Ronnie Phipps, Jack Pate Jr., Johnny Pate, Dr. Shane Mills, and Tracy Choate. Bob was born on April 22, 1941 in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma to Kenneth Pate, Sr. and Rena Mae (Harvey) Pate. He married Terry Price in 1965. Bob attended Spartan School of Aeronautics for calibration of aircraft instrument and then joined the United States Army. He worked at the post offices in McAlester and Wilburton and took a job at the McAlester City Hall. Shortly after starting at the city hall, he ran for Choctaw Nation Councilman for District 11 and was elected. Bob served as the District 11 Councilman for 24 years. He retired in 2019. Bob is preceded in death by his mother: Rena Mae (Harvey) Pate; his father: Kenneth Pate, Sr.; his son: Robert Pate, Jr.; and siblings: Kenneth Pate, Johnny Pate, Jack Pate, Beatrice Anderson, and Lavada Phipps. He is survived by his sons: Rickey (Rick) Pate and Tina Ramsey of Wilburton, and Rodger Pate of McAlester; his grandchildren: Isabelle Caruso and Alex Hammer of Dresden, Germany, Loni Jackson of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ashton Pate of McAlester, and Priscilla Kirkes and husband, Austin of Hartshorne;great grandchildren: Braden Pate, Dacen Pate, Kynlee Pate, Brecken Pate, and Kylie Kruswicki; Dawsyn Kirkes, Sawyer Kirkes, Payten Kirkes, Suttyn Kirkes his life-long friend: Terry Pate of McAlester; his sister: Lahoma Hotubbee of Yanush; along with several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
