Debra Michelle Murdaugh, 55, of McAlester, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 in McAlester, with her family at her side. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Friday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel with Brent McAlester officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Blue 97 FOP Foundation. Michelle Murdaugh was born on August 12, 1968 in Stillwater, Okla. to Joe Ann (Johnson) Vermillion and Harold Gene Farris. She graduated with honors from McAlester High School with the class of 1986. She moved to Stillwater for a few years before returning to McAlester, where she went to work for Boeing/Spirit in 1997. She worked there for almost 25 years and worked her way up to Production Control Supervisor. She loved her job and the many co-workers she came to claim as family. She married Matthew Murdaugh on June 29, 2018. In her spare time she enjoyed riding side-by-sides, swimming in her pool, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Michelle is survived by her husband, Matt Murdaugh; her children, Cheyenne Crowder and husband Jake, Courtney Barnett and husband Colby; her grandchildren, Austin Deaver, Brooklyn Deaver, Jackson Crowder, Kinley Barnett, and Kaydee Barnett; her mother, Joe Ann Vermillion; a sister, Josie McGowan and husband Chris; a brother, Richard Farris; 2 nephews, Louden Johnson and wife Macy, and Matthew Hawkins; a great nephew, Ellis Johnson; and father and mother-in-law, Ben and Paula Murdaugh. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dick and Wilma Johnson; a nephew, Dustin Farris; and uncles, Phil Sanders and Dale Johnson.
