Terry Helms, 68, of McAlester, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Bishop Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 15 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Keith Kinnamon officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Terry was born on July 1, 1946 in McAlester to Ray & Beatrice Barlow Helms. He attended schools in the McAlester area. Terry was employed as a firefighter with the City of McAlester. He then was employed as a supervisor with Cox Cable. Terry worked for Cox for some 30 plus years. He was a life time member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #533 and a very active member. Terry also was a member of the Sertoma Club. He loved to travel & liked to fish and was an avid golfer. Terry also loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his daughters & son-in-law: Gina & Jim Riley of Seminole, Toni Helms of McAlester; brothers & sisters-in-law: Eddie & Allie Helms of McAlester, Jeff & Cynda Helms of Oark, Arkansas. Also: grandchildren: Kaci Belt, Taylor Helms, Erin Nadeau, Jacob Riley, Joshua Riley; great-grandchildren: Mckinsey Northcutt, Mckalynn Belt, Jordy Belt, Caden Nadeau, Payton Nadeau, Morgan Nadeau; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ray & Beatrice Helms. Pallbearers will be Bob Tucker, Tommy Walker, Jeff Smith, Roger Kelley, Kenny McDonald, and James Tannehill. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Elks Lodge BPOE #533. Special Heavenly pallbearer is his friend, Chico.
