Arleene Frances (Bennett) Dunn, 87, of McAlester, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at a local nursing center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Masonic Section of Oak Hill Cemetery officiated by Rev. J.T. Carnell. Burial will follow. Arleene was born to Cleon Vernon "CV" and Frances Irene (King) Bennett on July 25, 1933 in Sapulpa. She grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1951. After high school, in the 1950's, she worked for Bell Telephone in Tulsa, as a secretary in Paducah, Kentucky, and then she spent some time working in Venezuela, South America. She returned to McAlester and worked as the switchboard operator at the hospital. She held the office of Electa as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Arleene was also a member of the Rainbow Girls and member of McAlester mixed chorus choir. She attended Grand Avenue Methodist Church for many of her younger years until moving away from McAlester. Arleene married Doyle Dunn, Sr. and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents: Cleon Vernon Bennett, Sr, and Frances Irene Bennett, both in January of 1999; son: Doyal Dunn, Jr; brother: Cleon Vernon Bennett, Jr; and second husband: Jim Turner. Arleene is survived by a granddaughter: Keri Ann Dunn of Wilburton; great-grandchildren: Tearlyn Dunn, Stetson Dunn; step-great-granddaughter: Jessie Dunn; brother: Charles D. Bennett of Lamar, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and good friends.
