James Roy Camp, 55, of McAlester, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 at McAlester Regional Health Center. Viewing will be Tuesday until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Terren Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brandon Green, Austin Wheat, Shawn Smith, Joseph Mobley, Patrick Wandres, and David Turnbow. Honorary pallbearers are his McAlester Radio family. James Roy Camp was born on February 8, 1969 in McAlester, to Willie Ray Camp and Sheila Ann (Binion) Turnbow. He was a lifelong McAlester resident. After high school he attended the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas. He worked at McAlester Radio as a radio engineer for over 20 years; he loved what he did, and all his friends that he worked with. James married the love of his life, Viola “Oly” Davis in May 1997, and she preceded him in death on October 6, 2020. James had a keen interest in geology and botany, and was a devoted dog lover, especially his companion shar-peis. James had a gift for telling stories that would fill any room with laughter and smiles. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. James is survived by his mother and step-father, Sheila and Robert Turnbow; brothers, Michael Shane Camp, David Camp, and John Camp; his cherished niece, Madison Brienne Camp; aunts and uncles, Nita and Bobby Branam, Sandra and Walter Carlen, Suzanne and Cliff Mobley, and David Turnbow. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Oly Camp, and his father, Willie Ray Camp.
