Johnnie Charles Boyce was born as a triplet unit January 31, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the proud union of Eddie Boyce Sr and Blanche (Hopgood) Boyce. Johnnie was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Douglas High School receiving his High School Diploma. Johnnie was reared in church and attended Church of The Nazarene and Fairview Baptist Church Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Johnnie started singing in church at an early age. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized. God blessed Johnnie with a special anointed vocal ability. His vocal talent led him and his brothers to form a musical group named Mark V which produced several recordings. A stand out recording was, “Time Waits For No One”. The singing Duo traveled to various states singing backup for various artists. Their music captivated audiences to rise with standing ovations. The group stayed together for several years. After departure from the group, Johnnie stayed in Oklahoma City where he worked as a sanitation loader and held various occupations in the labor market. Johnnie married Claudia Waldo and two sons were born to this union. After years living with family in Oklahoma City Johnnie relocated to McAlester, Oklahoma in January of 1993 to live with his twin brother Walid Rasulullah. Johnnie united with Mount Triumph Baptist Church by Christian experience. Johnnie met Ruby Price at Mount Triumph Baptist Church and were married on June 25, 1994. Johnnie served as a sunday school teacher for the youth department. He also, served as adult sunday school teacher, choir director, choir president, and sunday school superintendent. Johnnie sung at various churches and also sang at host of funeral services by family request. Several selected songs that Johnnie sang at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church were, "Certainly Lord", "I Shall Wear a Crown", "I Still Hear Mama Praying", "There’s a Leak in this old Building", "If You Need a Witness", "His Eyes Is on the Sparrow", "Thank You Lord", And "I Won'’t Complain". He enjoyed singing in the church choir. Johnnie loved life, singing, being a mentor and his family. He would always say he loved to hear the whistle of the train at night. He would openly give a testament of life’s obstacles and to press toward the prize of the high calling of Christ Jesus. He often mentioned his children’s names and loved each one dearly. All of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his world and they were his prize possession. Johnnie expressed a deep love for his brothers, sisters, his entire family and friends. Johnnie worked in self-sufficient employment with Southern Star Foods as a line leader. He worked at the Plastic Plant and at Big V Feeds as a loader. His final employment was at Ki Bois Community Action as a driver until his health started to decline. Johnnie was a history scholar and bible philosopher. Johnnie received certifications in Music, Tutoring, and Substance Abuse. Johnnie was a proud member of the Pittsburg County MLK choir. He received a special recognition award from the MLK commission. He also received a Certificate of Recognition from Mt. Triumph Baptist Church. Johnnie began his transition journey home Friday, November 15, 2024. He spoke his last words to his wife Ruby “You got to let me go” on November 16, 2024 “Spiritual Meaning” he was ready to meet God his maker. Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Boyce Sr and Blanche Boyce; his sons Johnnie Boyce Sr and Lehman Boyce; his sisters Janice Boyce and Dorothy Blunt; his nieces, Lakesia and Regina; his two granddaughters, a great grandson; a sister-in-law, Martha Price and a great great nephew, Carter Deere. Johnnie leaves to cherish his homegoing his loving wife Ruby Boyce of 30 years; his twin brother Walid Rasulullah (Blossom); his brothers, Eddie Boyce(Sophia), Calvin Boyce, Ronnie Boyce (Rita); sister, Cynthia Boyce (Carl); daughters, LaRhonda Boyce, Telecia Miles (Terrance), Rhonda Boyce, Kia Jones (Eddie) and Kim McBride (Sammy); son, Hasson Bethany; step sons LaMaur, John, and Albert Price; sisters in law, Laverne Hart, Irene Price-Johnson, Vanessa Price and Angela Dana; brothers in law, Rickey Price and LaMont Dana and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, a special young Lady Maya Thorton who Johnnie called his granddaughter due to her loving and kind ways toward him.
