Submitted by: Carol Rice

Douglas Clark Bivin, 75, of Krebs, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa. The family will welcome friends for viewing and visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Stephen Hale officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Prichard, Glen Hamilton, Sammy Magdalena, Clint Mahan, Dr. Robert Wiebe, and Josh Walters. Doug Bivin was born on Feb. 4, 1949 in Ponca City, Okla. to C. A. and Joann (Clark) Bivin. He grew up in Shidler, and after graduating from high school, he attended Oklahoma State University. Doug went to work for Public Service of Oklahoma as a lineman, and after 38 years of service, he retired as a Line Foreman. During his time at PSO, he taught and mentored many younger workers, always stressing the need for extreme safety. He and Mary Welch were married on May 5,1973, and when Doug transferred to the McAlester office, they made their home in Krebs, where they have lived for over 50 years. Doug loved his family and enjoyed all the times they could spend together. He was an avid fan of OU football, and loved to tinker with things in his “man-shed”, either putting something together, or tearing something apart. Other than spending time with his family, his favorite activities included playing golf and enjoying fellowship with chosen family at Pete’s Place. Doug was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge, and the McAlester Country Club. Doug is survived by his wife, Mary Bivin; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Michael Massaro; and a sister, Marilyn Brownridge.
