Barbara Jean (Belt) Adams, 85 of McAlester died Monday, May 13, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024 at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester officiated by Chaplain Monte Busby. Burial will follow. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Hayden Oswald, Clayton Oswald, Trenton Oswald and William Oswald. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Butler, Jr., Sam Tate and fellow classmates of the Up Sunday School class at Frink Baptist Church. Barbara Jean was born to Floyd and Peggy Jean (Hefley) Belt in McAlester on April 8, 1939. She grew up in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1958. She married Doy Wayne Adams on September 2, 1961 in Pittsburg. Barbara worked as the office manager for Dr. G.E. McAfee for over 21 years. She then worked as a library aide at Frink School for 9 nine years. She was a member of Frink Baptist Church and a member of the Kiowa Order of the Eastern Star. Barbara was a talented musician, playing piano and guitar by ear. She enjoyed reading and gardening flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Belt and Peggy J. Belt; her twin sister, Jo Butler; brother, Floyd Belt, Sr. and several nieces and nephews. Barbara is survived by her husband, Doy W. Adams of the home; daughter, Kathy Osborne and husband, Darren of Farragut, Iowa; grandchildren, Hayden Oswald and fiancé, Aubrey Richardson, Clayton Oswald and wife, Bianca, Trenton Oswald and fiancé, Julia Swanson, William Oswald and Paige Smith, Sheridyn Oswald and Kaleb Poe, Lincoln Osborne, Samuel Osborne; great grandchildren, Liam Richardson, Easton Oswald, Thea Oswald; sisters-in-law, Judy Belt, Betty Ramey and husband, Bobby; numerous nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
