Ethel Joyce (Newport) Long, 84, of Alderson, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at the North Town Cemetery in McAlester officiated by Pastor Ralph Suter. Joyce married Harold Long on February 7, 1959 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage before his death on December 18, 2024. Joyce worked outside the home as a seamstress, and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She is preceded in death by his father, Henry Eli Newport, Sr; mother, Mary Magdeline (Howell) Newport; daughter, Susan Holt; grandchildren: Levi Brown, and Brittney Weaver; and brothers: Thomas Newport, and Henry Newport, Jr. Joyce is survived by daughters: Cathy Long of Alderson, and Lynnett Weaver of McAlester; grandchildren: Caleb Brown, Tasha Holt, Tara Holt, Chelsi Weaver, and Garrett Weaver; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren: Kolton Taylor, and Kade Phillips; along with other family and friends.
