She attended L'Ouverture High School in McAlester, OK, and continued her education at Langston University, studying cosmetology. Janell passionately did hair for 53 years. Her passion for hair and her hard work ethic led her to build and own her own business. Janell's House of Beauty was in business for over 25 years. She was incredibly proud of her salon and spa. Janell not only made people beautiful but also used her gift of doing hair to minister to everyone she encountered daily. She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in McAlester. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God. She loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. Her ongoing work in spreading the word led many to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She is survived by her husband, Gaylord, her brothers Joe (Linda) and David, her children, Kevin (Constanta), Darrell (Nyemade), grandchildren Darrell Jr, Breanna, Amillah, Titus, and a host of loving family members and friends.
