Our beloved mom and memaw, Bette Santine, passed away peacefully, at home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, surrounded by her children and family. A rosary service and visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Chaney Harkin Funeral Home on Sunday, January 23, 2022. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, McAlester, Oklahoma celebrated by Fr. Todd Nance. Bette was born to David and Lilly (Dictson) Everidge on January 24, 1926 in Kiowa, the youngest of three girls and older than her two brothers. Bette grew up on the family farm and attended Savanna Public Schools graduating with the class of 1943. Shortly after graduating she began employment at US Naval Depot in McAlester and soon met a young marine, fell in love and married William Griffith. They had a daughter, Regina, after William had deployed to the Pacific front. He was killed in the battle of Iwo Jima. On December 19, 1946, she married Andrew Santine and they began a life together and a marriage that lasted until Andy's death on September 22, 2009. She assisted Andrew in the operation of Andy's TV Service and was a great mother to her 5 children. She was very talented in working with her hands whether it was sewing, painting, crocheting playing the guitar and piano and gardening. Bette was a long-time member of St John's Catholic Church and loved singing in the choir, which she did for nearly 50 years until her health prevented her from doing so. She is survived by her children: Vincent Santine of Tulsa, Bette Regina Mathis of McAlester, Patti Santine and her husband, Stephen Williams of McAlester, David Santine and wife, Billie Jean of McAlester, Clem Santine and wife, Jayna of McAlester, and daughter-of-another-mother Sharon Sisco of Edmond, OK; her grandchildren include: Clifford Mathis of Texarkana, AR, James Mathis of McAlester, Billy Mathis of Natchez, MS, Chris Santine of Dallas, TX, Beth Santine of Dallas, TX, Collette Santine of Tulsa, OK, Chris Kerby of Edmond, OK, Vanessa Sorrels of Marlow, OK, John Duff of McAlester, Laramy Duff of Crowder, Matthew Vaughn of McAlester, Davey Travis of Stillwater, OK, Jennifer Mullins of McAlester, Kevin Barnes of McAlester, Chris Williams of St. Paul, MN, Heather Podgorski of St. Paul, MN, Lucas Barnes of Edmond, Drew Santine of Tulsa, Ashton Adair of Oklahoma City and Nicholas Santine of Atlanta, GA; 30 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
