Betty Josephine "Jo" Mellor passed away on Saturday, February 1st 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in McAlester with the Very Rev. Jovita Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in McAlester. Active pallbearers will be John R. Mellor, Dan J. Mellor, Danny O'Connor, Michael Mellor, Nick Mellor and Daniel O'Connor. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Mellor, Lily Mellor and Maureen O'Connor. Jo was born in McAlester on February 19th, 1938 to Clyde and Anna Mellor. She was the fourth of 4 children for the couple. She was a cheerleader in high school and graduated from McAlester High in 1956. She attended Tulsa University and worked in the insurance business in McAlester and then moved into the law field, working as secretary in both fields. She relocated to Tulsa, working in law as before. She began working for the State of Oklahoma about 20 years before retiring at 80 years old. She liked to bowl and was on several leagues in McAlester and Tulsa. She is survived by her oldest brother, John F. Mellor and older brother, Walter J. Mellor, both of Tulsa; four nieces, two nephews and many grand nieces and grand nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde R. and Anna Mellor; older sister, Ann M. Reynolds; aunts and uncles who were very much a part of her life.
