Lena Elizabeth Maffeo, 99, passed into eternity on September 12, 2024 at the age of 99. She was born on May 21, 1925 in Prescott, Arizona and moved to McAlester, Oklahoma after marrying the love of her life, Dominic in 1948. She was a nurse from 1948 to 1990, working in hospitals, industrial, and mental health settings for over 48 years. Lena had a servant's heart starting at a young girl out on the ranch in Prescott, helping to care for her siblings after her mother passed away when Lena was 12 years old. Many lives were touched by her over the years. She will be deeply missed. Lena is survived by 6 of her 7 children, and 12 of her 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dominic, her daughter, Domenica; grandson, Joshua and Jospeh; and 5 of her siblings. Lena loved most in her life were her Faith, Family, and the many friends she met along the way. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Oklahoma Parkinson's Alliance, 720 W. Wilshire Blvd, Suite 109, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel led by Mr. Philip Stizza. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Church in McAlester celebrated by the Very Reverend Jovita C. Okonkwo. The burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in McAlester. Pallbearers will be Bob Maffeo, John Maffeo, Michael Maffeo, Frank Maffeo, Garry Baker, and Tony Wheeler.
