Willis Ronald Woods, 82, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 in McAlester, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma with Reverend Jody Domingue officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. Burial will follow. Pallbearers will be, Adam Lawson, Roy Smith, Ted Baugh, Fred Baugh, Rick Ramsey, and Jacob Urrutia. Honorary pallbearers will be, Dylan Woods, David Lawson, Fred Allen, Ernie Baugh and Mike Baugh. Ron was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 24, 1941 to Willis and Roxanna (Partridge) Woods. Ron's early years in Tulsa set the stage for a life of service and commitment. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from December of 1958 to 1964. On February 23, 1981, he married Carolyn Woods, in Texas, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Ron was known for his work ethic and attention to detail. He spent many years at the McAlester Ammunition Base, where he worked as a blocker/bracer, ensuring the safe transport of cargo. His expertise and dedication led to a fulfilling career until his retirement in 2001. Ron also worked for Mecco-Sullivan here he was involved in the design and construction of commercial marina systems. Ron had also worked as a district manager in the theater business for 18 years. Ron's passion for the great outdoors was undeniable. An avid duck hunter, he found solace and joy in the quiet of nature, whether he was waiting for the perfect shot or simply enjoying the beauty of the wilderness. His love for hunting and fishing was only matched by his enthusiasm for camping. Many will fondly remember the sight of Ron setting off in his R.V., eager to explore new horizons and create lasting memories with his children. Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Carolyn Woods on December 2, 1998; grandchildren, Lincoln Woods on January 5, 2009, Casandra Breedlove on November 26, 2023, and Joshua Ramsey on October 27, 2023; his parents, Willis Roland Woods and Roxanna (Partridge) Woods; brother, Roger Woods; sister, Delores Allen; sister-in-law: Pat Woods; and a daughter-in-law: Sharolette D. Woods; Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he carried their memories with him always. Family was the cornerstone of Ron's life. He is survived by his sons, , Alan Woods and wife, Tracy of Virginia, Kent Woods of McAlester and Jody Watts of Kilgore, Texas; daughter, Laqueta and husband, Rick Ramsey of McAlester; grandchildren, LeNisa and husband, Roger Nitzel of Crowder, Jeremy Stone and wife, Victoria of Moore, Dylan Woods of Virginia , Jessica Watts of Plainview, Texas, Megan and husband, Charles Williams of Pineville, Louisiana, Jacob Urrutia of McAlester, and Adelin Urrutia and fiance, Jacob Jackson of Oshkosh, Wisconsin ; great-grandchildren; Madilyn Demeter of South Carolina, Ashley Demeter and her husband, Justin of South Carolina, Jordan Nitzel and Kahli Ackerman of McKinney, Texas, Rebekah Nitzel and Christian Thorp of Broken Arrow, Karilyn Breedlove and Landon Kirkpatrick of McAlester, Austin Breedlove of McAlester, Hunter, Alistair, and Jace Stone all of Moore, Hollee Jewell, Cohen Charlie Jackson of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Remington Urrutia, and Colt Urrutia of McAlester; brother: Danny Woods of Arkansas; sister, Deanna and husband, Timothy Carpitche of Ada; the mother of his sons, Connie Woods; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends who were blessed to know him.
