Born on October 3, 1932, in the quiet town of Cabiness, Oklahoma, Ruth lived a full life characterized by adventure, faith, and a warm, friendly spirit that touched everyone she met. Ruth was the beloved daughter of Floyd and Pearl Howell and grew up in the close-knit communities of White Chimney and Cabiness. Her formative years in these rustic locales instilled in her the values of family, hard work, and the importance of faith, which she carried with her throughout her life. In 1949, Ruth married the love of her life, Wilford "Dink" Wood, and together they embarked on a journey that would see their family grow and flourish. Ruth's dedication to her family was unparalleled, and she embraced the role of matriarch with grace and strength. She was a cornerstone, providing love and guidance to all her family members. Ruth's life was marked by a 25-year tenure as the floor manager for Wal-Mart in McAlester. Ruth found spiritual solace and community at the North Town Church of Christ. Her faith was a central aspect of her life, and she lived it out with conviction and charity. An adventurous soul, Ruth had a passion for travel. Las Vegas was among her favorite destinations, providing her with the excitement and vibrant energy she so loved. Those who knew Ruth would describe her as adventurous, faith-filled, and friendly. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Ruth was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Floyd and Pearl Howell; her devoted husband, Wilford "Dink" Wood; her beloved son, Wendell Wood; her dear grandsons, Michael Miller and Winston Wood; her brothers, Clyde Howell, Joe Ray Howell, and Billy Howell; her sisters, Kathleen Howell and Willistene Howell, Ida Graves and Betty Tedrick; daughter-in-law, Bonita Wood. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her son, Charles "Shorty" Wood; her daughter, Vickie Wood; her treasured grandchildren, Sloan Wood, Hannah Hawkins, Troy Miller, and Desi; her adored great-grandchildren, Garrett Miller and Mya, Jenna Miller, Jaden Trammell, Hazel Wood, Nova Miller, and Alex Wood; her brother, Benny Howell and his wife, Cozene; her sister, Leona Glover; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who will miss her dearly. She lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around her. As we bid farewell to Ruth Coeze Wood, we celebrate her remarkable journey and the light she brought into our lives. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly, guiding and inspiring us from above.
