Richard "Dick" Leon Wills, Sr. stepped into the presence of Jesus Sunday, May 26, 2024. Viewing will be Wednesday, May 29 and Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma. Chaplin Louis Reynolds will be officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Derek Wills, Steven Wills, Kendall Peters, Michael Watson, Tyler Clark, Joey Vaughn, Garett Short, Larry Don Byas, and Tyler Guthrie. Dick was born April 4, 1928 in Pollock, Louisiana to Isaac Wills and Ida (Nugent) Wills. Dick graduated high school on May 24, 1946 in Pollock, Louisiana. He met the love of his life, Iva Cantrell at Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas. They shared 69 years and nine months of marriage. Shortly after they married, he served in the Louisiana National Guard. His job eventually led him and his family to McAlester, Oklahoma in 1969. Dick's favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. As a deacon for many years, he exemplified the qualities of service, humility and grace that defined his walk with Christ. His favorite scripture was Psalms 23:6 "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Dick is survived by his wife, Iva Wills of the home; children: Jan Jackson, Richard Wills and wife, Donna, Angela Peters and husband, Randall, Dewey Wills; son-in-law: Roger Edwards; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Draper and Hilda Curry; special friends, former pastor: Thomas Hatley and wife, Peggy, Kevin Stone, and Mike Redbird. Dick is preceded in death by his daughter: Debra Edwards; daughter-in-law: Janet Wills; son-in-law: Ed Gray; parents: Dewey and Ida Wills; brother: Jackie Wills; sister: Nelloise Snow; grandson: Chris Darden.
