Betty Williams, a lifelong resident of McAlester, OK. Betty moved to Tulsa, OK and resided at Montereau Retirement Community from 2013- 2024. She passed away at her home Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 8 days. Betty was born September 19, 1931 at Stillwater, OK to Alfred and Ida Campbell Powell. The family moved to Salinas, CA where she attended school. Betty lived a simple but happy life as a homemaker. She volunteered at the McAlester VFW and was a greeter and member of the Pathway to Truth Church in Krebs, OK. She also attended East Lawn Church of God, McAlester, OK. Betty is survived by her son: James Thomas and Juliet of the Philippines; daughters: Brenda Brigance and husband Randy of Panola, OK, Glenda Miller and husband Bobby of Coweta, OK, and Debra Roberts and husband CJ of Broken Arrow, OK; seven grandchildren: Greg Brigance, Kim Bacon, Sunny Sisco, Brock Burgett, Kevin Thomas, Spencer Burgett, and Jae Thomas; seven great grandchildren: Karsyn, Grayce, Tanner, Brendan, Sayde, Landry, and Violet. Betty is also survived by sister: Pauline Elam of CA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ida Powell, brothers, Marvin, Raymond, Merle, and Alfred. Sisters, Velma, Linda, MaryLee; and son-in-law, Rick Burgett. Husbands: James D. Thomas Sr. and Orval Williams. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma.
