William Michael Wigginton, 82, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away in his hometown, McAlester, on Sunday, July 2, 2023. Cremation arrangements are entrusted with Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A private Inurnment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Central Christian Church in McAlester, Oklahoma. Terry Williams will be officiating. Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Honors will be provided. Mike was born on November 7, 1940 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Bill Wigginton and Reba (Palmer) Wigginton. After riding his motorcycle through the halls of McAlester High School in a premature graduating ceremony, he joined the U.S. Navy and faithfully served our country on active duty from 1958 to 1961. Upon his return, he continued his commitment to serve the community as a Game Ranger for the Wildlife Department until he retired. After Mike grew tired of retirement he served as a Sheriff Deputy for the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Department for many years. Mike married his wife, Ruthie Rowland on July 22, 1966 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mike's personal interests were as vast as they were unique. He enjoyed taking care of chickens, pigeons, and rabbits, reflecting his inherent love for animals and nature. He had an intricate passion for collecting train models and setting them up in miniature landscapes. Additionally, he was a skilled duck hunter, testament to his long-standing profession as a Game Ranger. His varied interests provided a glimpse of his diverse personality, his zest for life, and his love of the simple, beautiful things it offered. Mike's life was a journey - a journey that began and ended in the rural landscape of McAlester, Oklahoma, but whose impact spread far and wide. Mike's love for nature, and his unmatched commitment toward his family and community charted a unique course through life, serving as an inspiration for those lucky enough to have known him. Mike is survived by his sons: Steve Wigginton and wife, Roxanne of Texas, Rick Wigginton and wife, Stacey of Arkansas, Mike Wigginton, Jr. and wife, Tammy of McAlester; his daughter, Traci Wigginton of McAlester; his granddaughters, Stefani Wigginton of Norman, Jami Tims and husband, Joel of Norman, Samantha Martinez and husband, Ricardo of McAlester, Chessie Wigginton of Arkansas, Addison Wigginton of Arkansas; his grandsons, Cody Coberly of McAlester, Trey Wigginton of McAlester, Matthew Wigginton of Arkansas, Cole Wigginton of McAlester, Hollis Wigginton and wife, Lexus of Arkansas; his great-granddaughters, Alexis Martinez, Sofia Martinez, Presley Tims, Finley Tims, Cora Mae Stockstell, Psalm Rose Wigginton; his great-grandsons, Brighton Tims, Barrett Tims, Ricardo Martinez Jr, Jason Tims, Hollis Brynner Wigginton. He is preceded in death by, his dearly beloved wife, Ruthie Bell Wigginton; his parents, Bill Wigginton and Reba Palmer Wigginton: his sister, Nancy Crank; He leaves behind a rich tapestry of life woven with dedication and an urge to serve others.
