Ida Joy Welton, 73, of Harrah, OK., departed from this life on November 15, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born February 14, 1944 to William Murphy and Lottie Ruth (Hooper) Grubbs in Denton, TX. She came with her family from Midwest City to Harrah in 1978. Ida received an Associate Degree from Rose State College and was employed as a Technical Orders Processor at Tinker Air Force Base until her retirement in 2006. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed reading and especially loved taking care of kids. Ida also enjoyed working in her flower garden and was a member of the Lunch Bunch at Tinker. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband George of the home; two sons, Ed Welton and George Curtis Welton, both of Harrah; a brother, Gary Grubbs and wife Marketta of McAlester, OK; two sisters, Betty Smith and husband Charles of Crowder, OK and Linda Hamilton and husband James of McAlester, OK.; three grandsons, Murph Welton, Ethan Welton and Zach Welton and wife Courteney; and one great-grandson Blaine Welton. Funeral services will be Monday, November 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Canadian United Methodist Church, Canadian, OK followed by interment in Memory Gardens, McAlester, OK. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah.
