Bennie Neal, 82, of Pittsburg, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024 in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester, officiated by Rev. Mark Eaton, pastor of Cornerstone Church in Atoka. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in McAlester. Active pallbearers will be Clellen Cody, Jimmy Curliss, Brody Curliss, Dakoda Cody, Don Caudill and T.J. Caudill. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Riggs, John Billinger and Andy Gower. Bennie was born on November 19, 1941 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Jimmie and Ruby (Crowson) Neal. He started his teaching and coaching career at Pittsburg Public Schools, where he was a math teacher, principal and girls’ basketball coach for many years. He later moved to Savanna schools and was the girls' basketball coach and teacher until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and archery, winning many tournaments and archery shoots. He is survived by a sister, Noma Cody; niece, Treva Billinger; nephews, Clellen Cody, Ty Cody, Jimmie Neal and Jerry Neal; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jane Neal; and brother-in-law, Gene Cody.
