Doris Gayle Medley, 88, of McAlester, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at a local nursing center. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Chaplain Cliff Loman officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Born to Jack and Ruth (Melton) Harper September 20, 1926 in Sanger, Texas, Doris graduated from McAlester High School. She married Floyd Medley February 14, 1946 in McAlester. She worked at the first Daylight Donut Store in McAlester, and retired from the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant where she worked on the assembly line for almost ten years. Doris volunteered for the Pink Ladies at McAlester Regional Health Care Center for fifteen years. She and her husband, Floyd, organized the volunteer fire department for the McAlester lake area. Survivors include her daughter: Ginger Silva of McAlester; sons: Rodger Medley and wife, Leslie of San Jose, California, Mickey Medley and wife, Lynelle and family of Muskogee; grandchildren: Nicole Fair and husband, Travis of Mannford, Michael Medley of McAlester, Anthony Medley of Durant, Jaron Medley of Durant, Chris Caldwell of Krebs, Brian Caldwell and wife, Melissa of San Diego, California. Also, great-grandchildren: Garrett Caldwell, Austin Caldwell, Kaden Caldwell, Weston Caldwell, Kyla Fair, Landen Fair; brother: Don Harper of Denton, Texas; sister: Wynema Arledge of Denton, Texas; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father: Jack Harper in 1985, mother: Ruth Harper in 1999; and her husband: Floyd Medley in 2002. Pallbearers will be Rodger Medley, Mickey Medley, Chris Caldwell, Brian Caldwell, Anthony Medley, and Larry Shackelford. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Eldridge, Ed Medley, Jack Ward, and Ron Robinson.
