Annie L. Maxwell, age 94, died Friday, January 6, 2017 in McAlester. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Kiowa Church of Christ with Steve Mass officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Annie L. Maxwell was born on June 5, 1922 in Pittsburg, Oklahoma to Thomas and Hattie (Williams) Kinnikin. She grew up in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School. She married James Allen Maxwell on January 21, 1942 in McAlester. They moved to Kiowa in 1949 and made their home there ever since. Together they owned and operated Maxwell's Service Station in Kiowa until they retired in 1977. Annie devoted much of her time to volunteer work. She helped at the Pittsburg County Library and the Pittsburg Co. Genealogy and Historical Society, as well as serving with the Pittsburg County Election Board with polling in Kiowa. She was also active, for many years, with the Pittsburg County Home Extension Service. In her spare time, she enjoyed all kinds of crafts, such as crocheting and ceramics. But her true joy came in spending time babysitting her grandchildren. Annie was a long time devoted member of the Kiowa Church of Christ. Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Joetta A. and Jim King of Denton, Texas, Janie M. and Jack Morrison of Norman; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Kenny J. and Mandy Maxwell of Stuart, Larry A. Maxwell of Kiowa; grandchildren, Brian King, Daryl King and wife Vickie, Lisa Gonzales and Husband Jeff, Lindsey Maxwell, Kindsey Maxwell, Kylie Parker, Holly Baker and husband Tandy, Randi Stone and husband Mike, Billy Maxwell and wife Taylor, Clay Maxwell, Lexie Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Braden and Shea King, Joshua, Ricky and John Gonzales, Jett and Jude Baker, Auggi Stone; great-great-grandchild, Ryder McManaman; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and B.T. Davis of Howe and special friends, Beverly and Jim Lovett of Huntington, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hattie Kinnikin, her husband, James Maxwell and 2 brothers, Joseph and Edward Kinnikin. Active pallbearers are Dan Isom, Everett Beaver, Keith Clift, Larry Christman, Dub Sartor and Wade Daniel. Honorary pallbearers are Garner Boyd, Robert Daniel, Rick Christman, Charles Gibbs, DeWayne Shores and Royal Williams.
