Pansy Gray, 87, of McAlester, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at a local nursing center. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Pastor Michael Moore officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Pansy was born on August 24, 1927 in Quinton to Tom and Myrtle (Williams) Teenor. She graduated from Quinton High School in 1945. She married Doyle Gray on February 22, 1946, and they settled in McAlester. Pansy worked for a long time at Hunt's Department Store. Her strong work ethic and dedication allowed Pansy to realize her lifelong dream by opening her own clothing shop, Pansy's. As a business owner, Pansy was committed to the growth of McAlester and its residents. In addition to her work, Pansy was very active in the community and Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was determined, gracious and loyal, and always eager to lend a helping hand. Pansy was preceded in death by her husband: Doyle Gray; parents: Tom and Myrtle Teenor; three sisters: Darthula Wilcox, Barbara Teenor, Mildred Elms; and a brother: Gerald Teenor. She is survived by her son: Terry and wife, Alyce Gray; granddaughter: Natalie Gray; brothers: Tom and Charles Teenor; and many nieces and nephews.
