Pauline Engleman, a beacon of joy and dedication, passed away peacefully from natural causes on February 17, 2024, at the age of 86 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Born on June 2, 1937, in Indianola, Oklahoma, Pauline's life was a testament to the power of love, commitment, and hard work. Pauline's journey through life was one marked by enduring love. She and her beloved husband, Gwen F. Engleman, shared a remarkable union of 69 years and 2 months, setting an example of true partnership and mutual support. Their love story was one of unwavering companionship, as they were inseparable in both spirit and action, taking care of each other and savoring every moment together. A proud mother to Danita G. Williams, Roy J. Engleman, and Brian F. Engleman, Pauline instilled in her children the values of resilience, integrity, and the importance of family. Her role as a matriarch was characterized by boundless affection and a selfless desire to see her loved ones thrive. Pauline's educational journey began at McAlester High School, after which she continued to expand her knowledge through various sales and marketing courses. Her professional life was marked by distinction and success, particularly in her work with Stanley Home Products and Tupperware. Pauline was not merely a saleswoman; she was an achiever who consistently met her goals, earning numerous awards, gifts, trips, and even two vans from Tupperware, a testament to her exceptional salesmanship. Early in her career she worked for C.R. Anthony Co. and then probably every bank in McAlester, where she excelled as a Teller, Teller Supervisor, and Vault Teller. Pauline's impact extended to Adak, Alaska, where she served as the Manager of the Bank of Alaska, showcasing her versatility and leadership. Pauline loved Branson, Missouri. She was drawn to the vibrant music scene and even worked for Ozark Mountain Bank and the Presley Country Jubilee when she talked Gwen into moving to Branson on two or three occasions for brief periods of time. Her passion for the place was infectious, and she forged lasting friendships with local citizens including members of the Presley family. An avid game player, Pauline enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and various board games with a competitive yet joyful spirit, most often emerging victorious. Her earlier years saw her actively participating in church league softball and showcasing her skills as an accomplished bowler. At times she bowled on two bowling leagues at a time. Creativity also flowed through her veins as she engaged in crocheting and ceramics. Pauline's service to her church community was unwavering. She served as Secretary and Treasurer at both Second Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in McAlester for over thirty years. Her love for teaching Sunday School, leading Vacation Bible School, and participating in the Kitchen committee reflected her deep commitment to her church family and her desire to serve others. Cooking was not just a hobby for Pauline; it was an expression of her love and generosity. She relished the opportunity to cook for and feed others, always ready to welcome guests, known and unknown, into her home. One Thanksgiving she invited strangers that Roy picked up off the highway that had car trouble to eat with us. Her culinary talents were legendary, with her fried pies, chocolate sheet cake, chicken spaghetti, and renowned chicken and dressing being family favorites. Pauline was an avid collector of Precious Moments figurines. She probably has the largest collection on this side of Carthage, Missouri. She was very proud of her collection and her membership in the collector's club. She also started collections for her granddaughters as well. Pauline Engleman's life was a living example of what it means to be loving, generous, and selfless. She touched the lives of many with her warmth, her unwavering spirit, and her ability to make every individual feel cherished and valued.
