Sharon Merle (Horton) Dobbs, 70, of McAlester, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 in McAlester. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16 at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 17 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Mr. Rob Lungstrum officiating and Mr. Cody Long and Mr. John Duvall as song leaders. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Sharon was born to Willis Charles and Tressa Opal (Cummins) Horton on February 13, 1944 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She attended school at Scipio, Indianola and McAlester. She married Leon Dobbs November 9, 1962 in Santa Maria, California. Sharon and Leon returned to McAlester in 1971. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, bible studies and listening to gospel music. Sharon loved all of her family and enjoyed any occasion to spend time with them. Survivors include her husband of 51 years: Leon Dobbs of the home; daughter: Cindi Long and husband, Steve of Broken Arrow; son: Kenneth Dobbs and wife, Elena of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren: Eric Long and wife, Kelsey of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Bryan Dobbs of Omaha, Nebraska, Cody Long and wife, Tiffany of Lexington, South Carolina, Ryan Long of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Hillary Kendrick and husband David of Krebs, Stephani Long of Conway, Arkansas, Austin Dobbs of Krebs, Allie Green of Warner Robins, Georgia, Colbie Dobbs of Warner Robins, Georgia. Also, great-grandchild: Weston Long of Lexington, South Carolina; sisters: Ravenna Waldrip of McAlester, Virginia Hooe and husband, Robert of Woodstock, Georgia, Melva Chandler of McAlester, Brenda Williamson of McAlester, Linda Shawn of Athens, Texas, Deborah Horton of Arlington, Texas; and brothers: Charles Horton of Benicia, California, Bobby Horton and wife, Judy of Vallejo, California, Leroy Horton and wife, Lea of Port Orchard, Washington, Glen Horton and wife, Sheralynn of High Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents: Willis Charles Horton and Tressa Opal Horton. Pallbearers will be Eric Long, Cody Long, Ryan Long, Austin Dobbs, and David Kendrick. Honorary pallbearer will be Bryan Dobbs.
