Mina Jean "Momma Jean" (White) Craig, 92 of McAlester died Thursday, August 17, 2023 in McAlester at a local nursing center. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2023 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Rodney Briggs. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Jean was born on January 24, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee to Edwin Henry and Lucille (Martin) White. She grew up in Memphis and graduated from East Memphis High School in 1948. After graduation, she married James Thomas "Jim" Craig on July 31, 1948 in Hernando, Mississippi. They moved to McAlester in 1961 from Memphis. She co-owned and operated White's Electric in McAlester until retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church of McAlester and volunteered at Mercy Clinic. Jean was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing Yahtzee and bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lucille White; husband, James T. "Jim" Craig; daughter, Beverly Ann Cox-Beshirs; grandsons, Jason Cox and Josh Clanahan. Jean is survived by son, Tom Craig and wife, Vickie of McAlester; daughters, Carol Sanders and husband Rodney of McAlester; Patty Craig of Enid; grandchildren, Jerry Vest and wife, Shonda, Larry Vest and wife, Melissa, Jamie Bivin and husband, Rusty, Lisa Craig, Brad Craig, Bobby Cox. Mike Cox, Chris Cox and wife, Kayla, Tom Clanahan; 16 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; other family members and friends.
