Joycie Pauline (Kelley) Carr, 95, of McAlester, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Walnut Grove Living Center from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born Dec. 15, 1917, in Wilburton, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Myrtle Lea (Tittle) Kelley. She married Lloyd Leroy Carr on Sept. 30, 1933. She and her husband were Electrolux dealers for many years before her retirement. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church that was organized on June 18, 1950. She was active in Sunday school work and the adult training union at Trinity. She also taught the young girls Sunday school class and the adult women's class. She served as Women's Missionary Union president from 1961 to 1962 and for many years as prayer chairperson. She was a life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098 Ladies Auxiliary and Gideon's Auxiliary. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons, Law Enforcement Sheriff and Peace Officer Association. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Kay Carr, of McAlester; granddaughter, Melanie Renee Fultz, of McAlester; grandsons and spouses, Ronald Jr. and Tanisha Faye Helterbrand, of McAlester, Marvin and Karen Faulkenberry, of Savanna, Mark and Yvonne Faulkenberry, of Blanchard, Evans and Susan Bailey, of Yukon, Glen and Trish Bailey, of Tuttle, and Keith and Karen Bailey, of Colorado; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jean Kelley Wingfield, New Hall, Calif.; nephew, Rudy Kelley, Shasta Lake, Calif., and niece, Jodi Kelley Liebhard, Carson City, Nev. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Carr; daughters, Barbara Jean Faulkenberry and Joy Louise Carr Bailey, and numerous sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Community Baptist Fellowship (formerly Trinity Baptist Church) with the Rev. O.C. Hawkins officiating. The obituary will be presented by her nephew, David L. Park. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Pallbearers will be David L. Park, Jack Crittenden and Kermit Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Helterbrand Jr. and Joe Fultz.
