Loretta M. Braswell, 83, of McAlester, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in Tulsa. The family will greet visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2022 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Dr. Rusty McMullin officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jarred Phillips, Brayden Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Matthew Davis, Cameron Davis, and Jimmy Wagoner. Loretta Mae was born February 9, 1939 in McAlester to George William and Thelma (Tweedy) Beck. She graduated from McAlester High School in the class of 1957, and married Albert Braswell on August 4, 1958. She worked various jobs in the area including Bill's Dollar Store, Woods Drugs for 10 years, Elsing's Manufacturing for 10 years, the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant for four years, and at Braum's for 12 years before her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church for many years until its closing, then attended Central Christian Church. She and Albert loved to travel. She loved to read books including her Bible which she would read daily. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and working puzzles, but especially enjoyed playing board games, card games, and Wii Bowling with her grandchildren. The time she was able to spend with her family was the highlight of her life. Loretta is survived by her children: Albert R. Braswell, Jr, Cheryl Wagoner and husband, Jimmy, all of McAlester, Dwayne Braswell and wife, Misty of Hartshorne; grandchildren: Stephanie Hamilton and husband, Jason, Stacey Phillips and husband, Jarred, all of McAlester; great-grandchildren: Matthew Davis, Cameron Davis, Tyler Phillips, Brayden and Brooklyn Phillips; and niece: Terri Baird of Tahlequah. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Albert Braswell, Sr; granddaughter: Hailey Braswell; and a sister: Frances Rains.
