Wilda Armstrong-McCormick, 90, of McAlester, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023 at McAlester Regional Health Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 20, at 1:00 p.m. at the Frink Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Visitation will be hosted by the family on Tuesday, September 19, at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Clint Armstrong, Jamel Clark, Jordan Clark, Kevin McCormick, Jarod Burgett, and Jared Basinger. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Armstrong, Sidney Armstrong, Donald Armstrong, Richard Armstrong, Sterling Armstrong, Rusty Wingo, John Alexander, George Scott, Terry Venables, and Joe Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Frink Baptist Church KBA cabin fund. Wilda Armstrong-McCormick was born on July 18, 1933 in Holdenville to Zay and Elver (Lyons) Minter. She grew up in Haywood until her family moved to McAlester in her late teens. She married Charels W. Armstrong on January 19, 1952. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1987. She later married Vernon McCormick in 1995. Wilda worked in the offices of McAlester Public Schools for close to 20 years, then went to work as a payroll specialist at the Army Ammunition Plant for over 20 years. Upon retiring, she took a job with the McAAP Federal Credit Union for a few years. Wilda was strong on family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in all their activities Wilda is survived by her husband, Vernon McCormick; her children, Greg Armstrong and Jane, and Tammy Hawkins; grandchildren, Beth Armstrong, Clint Armstrong and Vanessa, and Andrea Clark and Jamel; great grandchildren, Gracyn Walker and Brad, Jordan Clark, Cameron Clark, Kodi Armstrong, and Caleb Armstrong. Her step-children include Melanie Basinger and Mark, and Kevin McCormick and Trish; step-grandchildren, Heather Burgett and Jarod, Jared Basinger and Haylee; and step-great grandchildren, Karlie McCormick, Kourtnie McCormick, Dally Basinger, Sage Basinger, Cutter Basinger, Kate Burgett, Jade Burgett, and Raylan Burgett; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Charles Armstrong.
