Paul Knox Murr, 84 of Chickasha, former resident of McAlester and Crowder area died Sunday, April 19, 2009 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Paul Knox Murr was born September 15, 1924 in Woodville, Oklahoma to his parents Sam and Daisy [Davis] Murr.
He was a graduate of Kingston High School.
After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Pacific during WWII as gunner aboard a bomber.
Upon his honorable discharge from service he returned home and married his high school sweetheart Lois Harris on June 22, 1946. They had 46 happy years before Lois passed away May of 1992. Paul remarried on July 6, 1994 to Juanita Whaley and she also precedes him in death.
During Paul's employment he performed many jobs during his life as minister, butcher, carpenter and eventually retiring from the U.S. Postal Service as Supervisor of Operations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Lois Harris, a sister Lola Swinney and second wife Juanita Whaley.
Paul was a wonderful man, devoted to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving relatives: 3 daughters, Lana and husband Lester Otwell of Yukon, Oklahoma, Paula and husband Jim Trosky of Inola, Oklahoma, Kathryn and husband Alvin Carden of Chickasha, Oklahoma. 2 Sons, Michael and wife Stephanie Murr of Mena, AR, Thomas "Randy" and wife Deborah Murr of Lonoke, AR.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Wednesday April 22, 2009 at the McRay-Brown Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Service will be at the Grand Assembly of God Church of Chickasha, 10:00 am on Thursday, April 23, 2009. Rev. Larry Hatfield officiating.
Interment at Massey Cemetery near Crowder, OK at 3:30 pm, Thursday, April 23, 2009.
Pallbearers: Kyle Otwell, Mark Otwell, Isaac Murr, Mike Murr, Ian Trosky, and Zac Trosky.Honorary Pallbearers: Christopher Murr, and Jonathan Murr.
