Mary Alice (Jones) Haynes, 91 of McAlester died Saturday in McAlester surrounded by her family. The family will greet friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Kiowa Cemetery, Kiowa. Arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory, McAlester. Mary Alice was born to Eddie and Ruby (Lindley) Jones on October 2, 1933 in Kiowa. She attended school in Kiowa and later in California. She married James Edward Haynes on August 18, 1952 in Ventura, California. In 1966 they returned to Kiowa. Mary worked for the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in special weapons and later as a warehouse worker, retiring in 1987. Her homelife was her main focus. She enjoyed gardening, plants, flowers and vegetables and canning. She liked to complete word puzzles. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she would do anything that was needed for them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Ruby Jones; a twin sister at birth, Ruby Jones; husband, James E. Haynes in 2010; daughter, Karen Sue Pope; grandchildren, Joshua Higham and Kindsey Maxwell; and a brother, George Jones and his wife, Lois and brother-in-law, Jim Fenwick. Mary is survived by her daughters, Leanne Blevins and husband, Billy of Longview, Texas, Cheryl Wheeler and husband, Sam of Afton; son, Mike Haynes and wife, Cathy of Kiowa; 12 grandchildren, Pennie McCombs and husband Jim, Rachel Dietz and husband, Seth, Daniel Higham and wife, Robin, Lindsey Maxwell, Mike Wheeler, Meredith Hatridge, Megan Miller and husband, Jeff, Emily Farmer and husband, Scott, Lacy Toby and husband, Ryan, Kalli Kellogg and husband, Cory, Trei Champion and husband Brady; 26 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Fenwick; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
