Henry Bert Grimes, 67, of McAlester, died Monday, May 31, 2021 at his residence.A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Rodney Briggs. Burial to follow at Kiowa Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Kelley, Ross Selman, Mike Lowber, Tommy Pitts, and Mike Sossaman. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or to the Special Olympics. Henry was born to Carroll and Louise (Arthur) Grimes on August 30, 1953 in McAlester. Henry delivered papers as a youth. He had worked at First United Methodist Church as a custodian, Wal Mart, and First Baptist Church where he retired as a custodian. Henry was a member of First Baptist Church of McAlester. Henry enjoyed watching old movies, especially westerns. He was a fan of Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne movies. Henry was active with Oklahomans for Independent living for 25 years where he had also served as a board member. He also participated in Special Olympics. He was preceded in death by his parents: Carroll and Louise Grimes, and sisters: Betty Real and Edith Lee.
