Charles Rufe Dunagan, 73, of Montgomery, Texas passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, in Montgomery, Texas surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. August 24, 2024, at Bishop Chapel of Memories. John Nichols, Jr., will be officiating. Inurnment will be at Kiowa Cemetery at a later date. Charles was born on January 3, 1951, in Seminole, Oklahoma to Seabron T. Dunagan and Ruth (Hankins) Dunagan. Charles's early life in Seminole laid a strong foundation for his future. He graduated from Varnum High School. His pursuit of education led him to East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business management. This academic achievement paved the way for a successful career in retail, where he dedicated 45 years of service, most notably with Walmart, before retiring in 2014. On April 19, 1972, Charles married the love of his life, Jennifer Nichols, in Ada, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with decades of shared joy, and a family that grew to include adored children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, Charles was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace and joy in fishing and boating. His love for the outdoors was only matched by the joy he found in spending time with his grandchildren. Teaching them how to cast a line or navigate the waters, he passed on his passion for nature and the importance of cherishing simple moments. In retirement, Charles never slowed down. He continued to embrace every opportunity to be outside. His presence was a constant source of comfort and happiness to those around him. Charles is preceded in death by his wife: Jennifer (Nichols) Dunagan; his parents: Seabron Dunagan and Ruth (Hankins) Dunagan; his brother: Patrick Dunagan. Charles is survived by daughter: Shanna Payne of Montgomery, Texas; sons: Adam Dunagan and wife, Amber of Conroe, Texas, Brian Dunagan and wife, Amy of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren: Elizabeth Dunagan, Flynn Dunagan, Adam Dunagan, Claire Dunagan, Luke Payne, Wesley Payne; siblings: Ruby Darwin and husband, William of Oologah, William Dunagan of Shawnee, Roy Dunagan and wife, Donna of Konawa; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
