David Lee Rogers, 70, of Canadian passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at his residence. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Bro. David Cantrell. Burial will follow at Indianola Cemetery in Indianola. Pallbearers will be, Hayden Hopper, Dillon Bumgarner, Chance Lott, Jake Hopper, Logan Bumgarner, Brody Lott, Maddox Bumgarner and Hayden Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be, James Garrett, Jeremy Bumgarner, Dustin Lott, Isaiah Gibson and Jason Van Meter. David Lee was born to Clyde Earl and Patricia Ann (Rickey) on April 13, 1954 in Shawnee. He worked for the Cities of Savanna and Canadian in water and waste water management for over 26 years. David married Carla Weeks on July 9, 2004 in Van Buren, Arkansas. David was an avid University of Oklahoma Sooners football fan. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. David enjoyed life and always had a smile on his face, a joke to share and his larger-than-life presence commanded the attention of those around him. He raised homing pigeons for many years. His family affectionately referred to his pigeon hobby as "Rogers Racers". He was a member of the National Pigeon Association and had served as a judge at their sanctioned pigeon shows. David was a man of faith and lived a life serving others, especially his family and friends. He will be missed but not forgotten. David is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Patricia Rogers; brothers, Gary Rogers, Timothy Rogers; and a nephew, Jeff Rogers. He is survived by his wife: Carla Rogers of the home; daughters, Kellie Garrett and husband, James of Morris, Katie Bumgarner and husband, Jeremy of Durant, Karlita Lott and husband, Dustin of McAlester; sons, Matt Rogers of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Jordan Gibson and husband, Isaiah of McAlester; son, Jason Van Meter of McAlester; grandchildren: Hayden Hopper and wife, Ashlee, Dillon Bumgarner, Chance Lott, Jake Hopper, Logan Bumgarner, Brody Lott, Maddox Bumgarner, Hayden Gibson and one great granddaughter on the way; brother, Donnie Rogers; sisters, Kathy Hankins, Patty Rogers; brother-in-law, Wesley Harness and wife, Paula; numerous nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
