Betty Jane Murrin, 90, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, May 10, at her home near Indianola. Viewing will be Friday, May 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are set for Saturday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Indianola, with Mike Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Indianola Cemetery. Pallbearers are Robert Murrin, Mony Murrin, Michael Holt, Hunter Holt, Cullen Murrin, and Zachary Murrin. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Murrin, Mike Armstrong, Ron Tennison, and Charles Groves. Betty Jane Murrin was born on April 20, 1935 in McAlester to R. Harold Bailey and Jimmie (Hinton) Bailey. She lived in different areas of Pittsburg County most of her life and graduated from McAlester High School, before attending college, where she earned a double Bachelor's Degree, in Education and in Art. She married James William Murrin on Oct. 26, 1963 and they made their home near Indianola. Betty Jane taught school at Indianola, where she taught Kindergarten and Art, for over 20 years, until her retirement. In her spare-time, she enjoyed painting and taking long walks where she could enjoy all the wildlife. Betty Jane was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Indianola. Betty is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Monty and Lawanda Murrin, and Robert and Angie Murrin; grandchildren are Michael Holt, Jessica Holt, Cullen Murrin, Zachary Murrin, Audra Murin, Bonnie Murrin, Lily Murrin, and Maxie Murrin; great grandchildren are Hunter Holt, Ryder Holt, and Emilee Holt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
