William "Bill" Rodgers, age 86 died Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Norman Veterans Center. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:00 am at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home with the Reverend Chip Lott officiating. Burial will follow at Hugh Low Cemetery, near Scipio, under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. William "Bill" Rodgers was born on October 18, 1929 in McAlester to Walter Arnold and Hilda Magdalene (Parnell) Rodgers. He married Lilah Barlow on May 18, 1952 in Greenwood, Arkansas. Bill served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He later worked as the Administrative Clerk for Pittsburg County District #3. He was a member of Lone Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lilah Rodgers of the home; son and Daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Sheree Rodgers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Edith Jeane Eichert of Woodland, California; 3 grandchildren and spouses, Christopher and Rosemary Rodgers, Tracey Rodgers, Scott and Julie Rodgers; 8 great-grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William "Billy" Rodgers; grandsons, Eddie Marcoux Rodgers, Ricky Lee Rodgers; brothers and sisters, Dub Rodgers, Anne Pore, Hilda Rodgers, Ray Rodgers, Dan Rodgers, Jack Rodgers, Frank Rodgers and Bob Rodgers. Active pallbearers are Howard Zummer, Troy Zummer, James Zummer, Randy Crone, Oben Weeks and J.B. Barlow. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Clifton, J.A. Allford, Gene Clifton and the Pittsburg County District #3 employees. Military Honors will be provided by the Tinker Air Force Honor Guard.
