Joseph Schoggins

Joseph Trainor "Joey" Schoggins, 17, of McAlester, died Thursday, November 27, 2014 in Tulsa. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4 at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 5 at Life Church, 1300 S. George Nigh Expressway in McAlester, with Rev. Terry Brinkley and Rev. J.T. Carnell officiating. A private interment will be at "House of Joseph Cemetery" on family land. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Born to Darren and Kathy Schoggins on May 30, 1997 in McAlester, Joey was a Senior at McAlester High School and worked at Subway. He was the McAlester High School yearbook editor. Joey attended Haywood Baptist Church and the McAlester Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid Lady GaGa fan. He was planning on attending college to become a physician. He is survived by his parents: Darren and Kathy Schoggins of the home; maternal grandmother: Patricia Roscoe of McAlester; paternal grandmother: Jessie Schoggins of McAlester; sister: Samantha Schoggins of McAlester; brothers: Jeffrey Schoggins and wife, Kaylie of McAlester, Bobby Schoggins and wife, Casey of Enid, Oklahoma; sister: Jamie Schoggins of the home. Also, nephews: Seth Schoggins of the home, Clayton Bryant of McAlester, Ely Schoggins of Enid; niece, Paisley Schoggins of McAlester; special uncle: Glenn Smith and wife, Hope of Jennings; other aunts and uncles; special friends: Monique Ramirez and family, Heather Ross, Cody Phillips; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather: Jay Roscoe, and paternal grandfather: Hurmie Schoggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Schoggins, Danny Schoggins, Ben Schoggins, Howard Schoggins, Kent Crawford, Everett Christian, Stan McMullen, Carl Sanders, Curtis Lott, Clint Jenkins, Elmer Green, and Bobby Green.
