Ross David Selman, 90, passed from this earth on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Walnut Grove Living Center in McAlester, OK. Ross spent most of his lifetime near the Haywood community. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Services will be on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00 at the Kiamichi Country Cowboy Church on Hwy 31 West of McAlester, with Pastor Mitch Arteberry presiding. Burial will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery on Hwy 31 west of Haywood. Ross was born on March 26, 1934, at Celestine, OK, to J.D. and Millie (Staples) Selman. He married Jo Ann Ott on September 26, 1959. Ross was a lifetime rancher/farmer and spent 20 years as a rural contract mail carrier. He loved ranching as it was his chosen profession and hobby. Ross is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; daughter, Brenda Lankford and husband David; son, William Ross Selman; grandchildren, Andrew Massey and wife Nikki, Rachel Springer and husband Kenny, Cheyenne "Mo" Jones and husband Kyle, and Kaya Selman; great-grandchildren Sofia and Sidney Springer and Jackson and Tenlee Curson; sister in law and brother in law, Faye and Dee Smart and family; and nieces Janie Smith, Debbie Workman, and Althea Johnson and their families; cousins, Bill Brewster, Ben Staples, and numerous other family members. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Millie Selman; sister, Marie Gibson and husband Jim; and nephew, James Gibson. Ross was known by "Papa" by his family, was loved, and will be missed dearly. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. His legacy of passion for Jesus, family, and friends will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved him. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Massey, Kenny Springer, Ralph "Juno" Thompson, Clayton Thompson, Doug Johnson, and Fred Workman. Honorary Pallbearers Dee Smart, Bill Brewster, Ben Staples, Dale Massey, Vernice Jones, Lloyd Welch, and the men of the Kiamichi Country Cowboy Church.
