Lena Hammit, age 81 died Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Quinton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at Featherston Baptist Church with the Reverend Randall Pearce officiating. Burial will follow at Featherston cemetery under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Lena Hammit was born on January 20, 1935 in Ben Lomond, Arkansas to Floyd and Dixie (Hill) Housley. Her childhood was spent in many different towns, due to her father's work, but she graduated from McAlester High School. She had lived in Eufaula, Stidham and McAlester, among others, but Ardmore was her home during her adult life. She has lived in Quinton the past 9 years. She was first married to Robert Rutledge, then later to Pete Hammit. Both husbands have preceded her in death. She was a member of the Featherston Baptist Church and she loved to sing gospel music. She also liked to sew when she was younger. Survivors include 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Stanley Rutledge, Rodney Rutledge and his wife LeeAnn; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Ogden and husband Wayne, granddaughter, Lindsey Sawyer and husband Matt, great-grandson, Corbin Sawyer, sister, Thelma Thomason, brother, Arnold Housley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by in addition to her 2 husbands, her parents; 2 brothers, Bob Housley and James "Choc" Housley and his wife Leatrice; brother-in-law, Malcom Thomason. Active pallbearers are Wayne Ogden, Matt Sawyer, Kenneth Brunson, Taylor Brunson, Tanner Williams and Teagan Williams.
