Betty F. (Monroe) Spears, 86, of Hartshorne, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hartshorne with Leon Mace officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Dale Montgomery, John David Spears, Weston Montgomery, Kolton Montgomery, Dace Gragg, Dillon Shumway, Ayden Shumway and Hunter Fry. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews. Betty was born on July 15, 1937 in Chloride, Arizona to Royal Clyde and Ethel (Rubash) Monroe. She married Dale Spears in the spring of 1955 in McAlester. She was a Teacher’s Aide for many years in Hartshorne and was also a rancher. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Spears Montgomery and husband, Jimmy Montgomery, Glenda Zike and husband, Rodney Zike; son and daughter-in-law, David Spears and wife, Kelli Spears; 32 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Frank Monroe and Bill Monroe; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry Monroe Koleszar, Patricia Monroe Sartin and husband, Larry Sartin, June Monroe Haynes and husband, Terry Haynes; She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Spears; her parents; two great-grandchildren, Kelli Sue Fry and Stormy Miller; and a brother, Clyde Dean Monroe; brother-in-law, Pat Koleszar.
