Gene Edward Parker
Elmwood Cemetery

Gene Edward Parker, 75, longtime Checotah resident, entered eternal life on Sunday, June 8, 2008 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He entered this life on Monday, November 21, 1932 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to Lonnie and Beulah Arnett Parker. Gene grew up in Hartshorne where he received his education. He moved to Kansas where he began working for Cessna Aircraft. Gene later moved to Florida where he continued working for Cessna then moved to Oklahoma City where he worked at Tinker Field. He met, fell in love and later married Corene Smith on Thursday, November 10, 1966 in Ft. Smith Arkansas. They made their home in Tulsa where he began a career with American Airlines as an Aircraft Mechanic, retiring in 1996 after 25 years of service. He loved his family, and was a devoted Dad and Granddad. He enjoyed Deer hunting, fishing and was an avid OU Football fan. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Gene was preceded in death by his Parents; Grandson, Jason Parker, seven Brothers and three Sisters. He is lovingly survived by the love of his life, Corene Smith Parker; His Children, Gene Edward Parker, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Florida, Nicky David Parker of Texarkana, TX, Gina Annette Self and her husband Rick of Checotah, Rhonda Parker and her special friend Chuck Dean of Council Hill, Donna Duncan of Florida and Rhonda Hogan and her husband Tripp of Florida. Grandchildren, Krystle Dawn Emberson and her husband Buford, Edward Dewayne Self all of Checotah, Scott Anthony Tabbytite, Nicky Gene Parker and his wife Miranda all of Council Hill, Joshua Daniel Hayes of Checotah and Alta Christine Seamon and her husband Clint of Hitchita, OK. He has 18 Grandchildren, 20 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-great Grandchildren that live in Florida. Also surviving are 2 Sisters, Nancy Roberts of Warner and Anne Marie Sapp and her husband David of Florida; 2 Sisters-in-law, Patsy Fowler and her husband Sam of Council Hill and Linda Williams and her husband Bill of Crowder, Ok. Funeral Services for Gene will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel with John Garrett, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Hartshorne, OK. at 2:00 P.M. with Ed Self, Nicky Parker, Scott Tabbytite, Corene Smith Parker, Mike Shelton and Tommy Shelton serving as Casket Bearers. Chuck Dean, Sam Fowler, Buford Emberson, Rick Self and Ricky Shelton will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers. The family of Gene Parker entrusted his care and service to John & Kim Garrett of Garrett Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service 311 S. W. 2nd Checotah, Oklahoma. 74426, (918 473-2244.
