John W. Kirby, 75, of Crowder, Oklahoma passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Visitation will be on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Crowder Cemetery in Crowder, Oklahoma. Bill Hayes and Chester Denny will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Blake Denny, Jacob Webster, Clayton Binder, Billy Ridenour, Josiah Ostrowski, and Doug Ross, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Ostrowski, Eric Binder, Phillip Webster, Jr., David Munholland, Leo Osborne, Jack Denny, and Todd Huckabee. John was born December 12, 1948 to John and Irene Kirby in McAlester, Oklahoma. His childhood was spent in Canadian and then Scipio, Oklahoma. John graduated from Indianola high school in 1967. John's entire career was a self-employed flooring installer for over 55 years until his retirement in 2017. John and Nellie ran off to Ada and married on August 8, 1980. They were accompanied by their lifelong friends, Maxi and Betty McDonald, who were also married the same day. John was an avid fisherman who participated in local fishing tournaments where he was angler of the year on multiple occasions. He loved spending his days on the lake catching big bass. The last few years of his life he enjoyed driving his dog Daisy around Crowder. John is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie R. Kirby; his parents, John and Irene Kirby; son, John David Kirby, and his infant children, Anissa Dawn Kirby and James Robert Kirby; siblings, Diane Martin, and Wilfred Kirby. John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Jessica Janeann Ostrowski and David Ostrowski of Eufaula; his son and daughter-in-law: Phillip D. Webster, Jr. and Shannon Webster of Canadian; his daughter and son-in-law: Chandra Binder and Eric Binder of Coweta; his grandsons: Blake Denny of Crowder, Josiah Ostrowski of Eufaula, Jacob Webster of Canadian, Clayton Binder of Broken Arrow; granddaughter: Jade Ostrowski of Checotah; great-grandson: Dexter Frey Colburn; nieces and nephews: Lisa Ridenour, Billy and wife, Chelsey Ridenour, Britney Ridenour, Doug Ross, Jr., Chris Martin, Carol Martin, Shelby Belvin, Eddie Kirby, Jeff Kirby; cousins: Tommy Kirby, Syble Kirby-Burnett; special friends: Leo Osborne, Todd Huckabee, Richard Saccaro, Phillip D. Webster, Sr., and Anna Webster; along with other family members and friends.
