Ronald "Ron" Eugene Hightower, 78, of McAlester, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his residence. The family will greet visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at North Town Church of Christ; 2400 N. Main in McAlester officiated by Mr. Kelly Benson and Mr. Steve Weeks. Burial will follow at Crowder Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luke Lipska, Christian Nester, Brandon Clark, Richard Peckio, Aaron Heathcock, and Kevin Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Osborne, Royce Jackson, Jim Kelley, Randy Hughes, Randy Walters, John Lay, and Randy Lipska. Ronald Eugene was born to Hyatt and Bernice (Tempia) Hightower on January 20, 1944 in McAlester. He graduated from Canadian High School in 1962. Ron married Joyce Ann Campbell on April 20, 1963 in Wilburton. He graduated from Eastern Oklahoma State College and received a Bachelor's degree in science from Oklahoma State University. Ron was an agriculture teacher and taught at Batiest, Smithville, Canadian, and retired from McAlester High School in 1996. He also worked as a maintenance man for Heritage Hills Nursing Living and Rehabilitation Center in McAlester, and co-owned Wellington Hills Nursing Center in Eufaula. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of North Town Church of Christ. Ron was preceded in death by his parents: Hyatt and Bernice Hightower and a granddaughter: Amanda Stark. He is survived by his wife: Joyce of the home; daughter: Lori Lipska and husband, Randy of Quinton; sons: Gary Hightower of McAlester, Todd Hightower and wife, Jennifer of Crowder; grandchildren: Laci Johnson, Summer Clark and husband, Brandon, Luke Lipska, Carley Hightower, Christian Nester, Lainey Hightower; great-grandchildren: Rhiannon Johnson, Braelon Johnson, Jace Clark, and London Clark; brothers: J.W. Hightower, Darrell Hightower, both of Canadian; and numerous other family members and friends.
