She graduated from North High School in Bakersfield. She married Christopher Mathis in Bakersfield in 1983. Juliana loved to travel and she worked in the hospitality industry for Caesars Entertainment in Lake Tahoe, Nevada in the 1990's and relocated to Hawaii where she attended Maui Community College and the University of Hawaii. Juliana's adventurous soul led her to live in different parts of the United States, each locale enriching her life in unique ways. From California to the serene landscapes of Nevada, and the tropical paradise of Hawaii, her experiences were as diverse as they were numerous. Water sports were among Juliana's many passions. She seized every opportunity to ski and wind surf, embracing the thrill and freedom these activities afforded. Bold and outspoken, Juliana was also deeply passionate about her political beliefs, never shying away from expressing her convictions and standing up for what she believed was right. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce A. Gipson; brothers, Johnny Wayne Heaslet, Jessie Ray Heaslet. Juliana is survived by father, Johnny Heaslet of Eufaula; sons, Cody Mathis and wife, Kaylee of Okmulgee, Cameron O’Dell of Oklahoma City; 6 grandchildren, Malie, Noah, Kalena, Kynnlee, Kaylyn and Kambry; brothers, Jeff Heaslet of Eufaula; Frankie Lea, Sr. and wife, Trish of Cleveland, Texas sisters, Janie Terrill of Henryetta; Joanna Heaslet of Wamego, Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Juliana's life was an embodiment of living fully and fiercely, of embracing the unknown with open arms, and of always maintaining an enduring connection with those she held dear. Today, we celebrate her extraordinary journey on earth, even as we bid her a fond farewell. Her story remains etched in our hearts, a story of a spirited woman who truly sought to see the world, and in doing so, made her world a brighter place for us all.
