Submitted by: Carol Spear Rice

Tommie Clifton Fremen, 83, of Crowder, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 at his home. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Glenn Enloe officiating. Interment will be at Crowder Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Fremen, Walter Fremen, Ronnie Fennewald, Sarah Fennewald, Ethan Young, Emily Young, Andy Johnson, and William Johnson. Born June 28, 1937, in Bower, Oklahoma, Tommie was born to William Haskell and Rosie Mae (Brumfield) Fremen. He was an identical twin and the second of the Fremens' nine children. Tommie would attend school in Canadian, but didn't participate in many extracurricular activities as all the Fremen kids had to hurry home to help with chores. Following graduation, Tommie would begin his working career. He would spend a total of 34 years working on the railroad and was especially fond of the time he worked under the M-K-&-T organization. He retired as a machine operator with the Union Pacific Railroad. In addition, he spent several years in the U.S. Army Reserves and loved his country. Tommie married Margie Honea on November 25, 1961 in Canadian. Except for a small stint spent in California, Tommie and Margie lived in Canadian where they raised their girls, moving to Crowder in their later years. A wonderful husband and father, Tommie always attempted to give his family anything they needed. He loved introducing his girls to music and was proud to play alongside them in their family band, the Oklahoma Sundowners, traveling and playing music together for several years. Throughout these years, Tommie played the guitar and a little bit of fiddle, but only sang a couple of songs with his girls. When he wasn't at work or playing music, Tommie could be found fishing, looking for treasures with his metal detector, or repairing old televisions. Described as level-headed, practical, and old school, Tommie was sensible and satisfied with what he had. He had a good sense of humor and loved to make his family laugh. Tommie was of the Christian faith and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughters: Rhonda June Young of Crowder, Mona Kathleen Enloe and husband, Glenn of Blanco; his grandchildren: Sarah Fennewald and husband, Ronnie, Ethan Young, and Emily Young; his great-grandchildren: Dale Fennewald, Hannah Fennewald; his siblings: Archie Fremen of Canadian, Joyce Jacobs of Morris, Ruby Shaffer of Salida, California, Barbara Rogers of Rattan, Linda Rogers of Tulsa, Walter Fremen of Okmulgee, and Vickey Haseloff of Farwell, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Margie (Honea) Fremen, and a sister: Ellen Pierce.
