Ruth Ellen Sanders, 80, of Hartshorne, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in Hartshorne. Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home in McAlester. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Louis Reynolds officiating. The burial will follow at Choate Prairie Cemetery, Indianola, Oklahoma. She is survived by her children: Diana Harris and her husband Bobby of Hartshorne, Jim Jackson and his wife Rosalie of McAlester, and Deborah Corder of McAlester. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, sharing her wisdom and humor with her grandchildren: Stacey Moore and Carl Nimrod of Wilburton, Jeffrey Moore and his wife Tamra of Wilburton, Andrew Jackson and his wife Amanda of McAlester, Earl Jackson of McAlester, Amy Jackson and David Ament of Edmond, Tyler Corder and his wife Allie of McAlester, Taylor Corder and his wife Nicole of McAlester, Tanner Corder of McAlester, Erik Harris and his wife Jacquie of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Sam Harris and his wife Jadelyn of Tulsa. Ruth was also a proud great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Earl Sanders and Hazel B. (Harmon) Sanders; her cherished granddaughter, Amanda Jackson; her son-in-law, William Corder; her brothers, Raymond Sanders, J.E. Sanders, and Otis Sanders; her sisters, Leona Williams, and Earlene Williams; and the love of her life, Eddie Jackson. We celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with cherished memories, and a woman who was truly one of a kind. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will be a comforting presence in the lives of her family and friends.
