Nivla Ruth Pullum, loving Mother and Grandmother, was peacefully called home by her savior, October 19, 2024, in McAlester, Oklahoma. She will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ricky Kerns officiating. A private burial will be held at Choate Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jady Gorden, Wolf Davis, Andrew Keltner, Stephen Cooper, Leonard Brojakowski Jr., Logan Bain, Derek Brojakowski, and Logan Brojakowski. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Brojakowski, Sr., Glenn Flood, Joe Romine, and Lionel Brojakowski. Ruth was born in Mesa, Arizona on August 5, 1947, to Virgil Lee and Hazel Lucielle (Motley) White. She attended Indianola School and graduated in 1965. She later attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, majoring in computer programming. In her younger years she worked for Walmart in McAlester. In the following years she watched children in her home and worked private home health care. A one point she also taught crafts at Oklahomans for Independent Living. She was a homemaker for part of her life, sewing and cooking big dinners for her family. Ruth's greatest accomplishments were her two daughters, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Not only did she raise her children, but several other children that walked through her door. She was always there to help everyone. She never met a stranger. Her humor and sharp wit will be missed. Some of her favorite times included camping, having picnics and swimming. She loved cooking and entertaining people. She was strong in her faith and taught Sunday school off and on throughout her life. Ruth also enjoyed crafts, crossword puzzles and game shows. She is survived by her aunt, Sadie Lessenger of Antlers; her children: D. Rena White and wife Melissa of McAlester, and Terese Bryant of Hartshorne; grandchildren: Hailey Gorden, Jady Gorden, Jhaxon White, Grace White, Stephen Cooper and wife Nicole, Alexandria Keltner and husband, Andrew all of McAlester, and Cortney Bain and husband, Logan of Hartshorne; great grandchildren: Jhettson Pisachubbe, Zaython Martin-Chavers, Jaxen Cooper, Raiden Cooper, Allison Keltner, Andrew "Bub" Keltner all of McAlester, Wolf Davis, Kabin Cooper, Macelyn Valdez, Kyler Bain, Cayson Jordan, Danielle Bain all of Hartshorne. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents: Virgil and Hazel White; siblings: Georgia Crystal Parson, Sybil Elizabeth Brojakowski, Billy Ray White, Virgil Lee (Lee Boy) White, Patricia Lecreshia Culver (Walden), Vivian Ann Flood and infant sibling Diane White, and her special friend, Robert Ervin.
